THE SECOND GREEN GRADS SCHOOLS DAY MAY 2025

The GREEN GRADS were invited back into the Elizabeth Garrett Anderson School for Girls for a second time, spending a whole day, in which they reached 360 pupils aged 11-14.

There were 13 GREEN GRADS taking part. Each had a table as a base where they explained their varying projects with examples and in some cases offered simple ongoing workshops. Madly popular and returning for the second time were the mending/remaking demos by Lucy Ralph. Elizabeth Lee’s Carbon Cell substitute for polystyrene brought a touch of scientific rigour as did Eva Xiste’s Nover biomaterial. Yahvi Duggal’s biomaterials were also wildly popular with splashy hands-on dips into water. Aaron Mighty, Izzy Kelly and Christoph Kurzmann expanded horizons with their woodworking skills, and the girls loved Funmi Olawuyi’s natural hair extensions made from pineapple leaves. Elena Branch assembled a beautiful frieze from the kids’ artwork, and Sofia Barbé was truly mobbed with her ongoing needle-felting workshop. Similarly popular was Max Male with his ingenious Snapkit system for waste card, whilst Sara Howard’s Crafting Coral project captured everyone’s imagination.  “Thank you for running this fantastic GREEN GRADS event at EGA,” said deputy head teacher David Shemoon. “The feedback was amazing and students benefited massively.” We have been invited back for Earth Day 2026!
